Frequently asked questions
Q: What is 925?
A. Also known as Silver 925 (Sterling Silver) , it is a silver alloy that contains 92.5% silver and contains alloying elements (such as copper and aluminum) to increase the strength of the product.
Q. Is the silver material 925?
A. The material used for FAL's regular items is basically 925 silver (sterling silver) . Items with gold specifications are made of 18K or 10K gold, and no surface treatments such as plating are used. Basically, the solid metal is hand-polished to a finished product.
Q. Does silver rust?
A. The 925 silver used in FAL products will not rust. However, the term "rust" is sometimes used to describe the black discoloration of the silver surface. Unlike rust caused by the oxidation of iron, silver turns black due to sulfuration. The blackened area is sometimes called "smoked."
Q. What is smoking?
A. The part of the silver surface that has been sulfurized to form a black film is called "smoked." The polished finish of the product is achieved by sulfurizing the entire surface (making it black) before polishing, and then polishing the surface so that only the recessed areas remain. This is called an "antique silver finish" or "smoked finish."
Q. I have a metal allergy. Is it okay?
A. If your skin becomes red or any other abnormalities are observed, immediately discontinue use. FAL products do not contain nickel, cobalt, chromium, or other metals that are known to cause metal allergies . However, even gold, silver, and platinum, which are said to be relatively hypoallergenic, may cause symptoms depending on your constitution. Please be aware that FAL also avoids making accessories using materials such as brass that come into constant contact with the skin. Please note that if you request a custom-made item using brass or other materials, we may decline the request depending on the type of accessory that comes into constant contact with the skin.
Q. Isn't it plated?
A. FAL's silver products are not plated . We also decline requests for plating as a custom order. We also have brass products, but these are processed using the dull process (a process in which the product is copper-plated and then chemically turned black).
Q: How should I care for it?
A. The easiest way is to polish it witha commercially available silver cloth (a polishing cloth with abrasives) . If you are unable to remove dirt (black tarnish caused by sulfide), it is convenient to useSpeed Dip (liquid cleaner) .
Q. What is the difference between a T-bar and a hook? Will the T-bar come off (when using it)?
A. There are various designs for clasps used on bracelets and other items. The type of clasp used is generally determined by the design of each product. The main types are as follows: 1. Hook type: A hook-shaped male clasp hooks onto a female clasp. 2. T-bar type: A T-shaped male clasp passes through a female clasp. 3. Clasp or pull-ring type: The male clasp fastens to the female clasp with a spring-loaded clasp. Think of clasp retention as follows: "Hard to remove" <... 3... 2... 1... > "Easy to remove." 1. With hook-shaped accessories, the hooks can open up over time, making them more likely to come off. However, you can make them less likely to come off by re-crimping the hooks (removing any looseness). If you are concerned about the problem with your current accessory, please contact us and we will repair it. 2. With T-bar-shaped accessories, if you wear a bracelet or other item that is larger than your wrist, the chain may be pushed against the T-shaped male clasp, causing it to rotate from a horizontal position to a vertical position, resulting in the female clasp slipping through the T-shaped male clasp and coming off. If you choose a size that fits your wrist as snugly as possible, you can wear it with confidence without it coming off. ③ Clasp and pull-ring types are fastened with a spring metal fitting, so they almost never come off, but in rare cases, the handle that pulls the spring can get caught on clothing and cause them to come off.
Q. I would like to know the size of the bangle.
A. Bangle sizes are determined by four factors: inner diameter length, inner diameter width, inner diameter circumference, and opening width. We can also manufacture to your specified dimensions (fees apply). Q. What is 925?
